In December 2017, Cattywampus Puppet Council and Knoxville hip-hop group the Good Guy Collective debuted their first collaborative theater piece: What the Water Tells Me.

Through hip-hop, puppetry, and dance, What the Water Tells Me follows two children’s journeys to adulthood as they navigate the changes that occur in their home town and within themselves, when a large utility company threatens the waters that raised them.  This collaborative, innovative, and community-based environmental justice piece was created by a team of more than 50 dancers, visual artists, MCs, writers and performers in Knoxville. After 4 sold out shows, it went on to be performed at the Highlander Research & Education Center’s annual Homecoming Celebration, NEFA’s National Theater Project Regional Convening and several other venues.
