Each parade season, Cattywampus takes on a larger than life community art project inspired by that year's theme. For our 2023 "AMPLIFY!" parade, local artist Rainey Rawles led the design & creation of this Giant Community Megaphone. Over 30 volunteers helped to papier-mâché & paint this giant puppet, which played a 9 minute audio track composed of hundreds of our community's voices recorded mostly at our youth art residency sites. A special thank you Good Guy Collective founder Jarius Bush for creating this audio track, all of the individuals who shared their voices, and our friends at Able Trade for gifting us space to build this audacious and beautiful puppet. You can listen to the audio track below.
