Parade Leadership Workshop: Giant Puppet Making 101

These free workshops are designed for teachers, community leaders and any other individuals who would like to spend an afternoon/evening learning how to design and create lightweight giant puppets for this spring’s parade. Each participant will leave with the resources and skills needed to lead their classroom, workplace, or group in the creation of giant puppets, masks, and costumes for the Appalachian Puppet Pageant. These workshops will be hands on and include cardboard sculpting, papier mache, giant puppet rigging, and more.

Giant Puppet Making 101: Foam Workshop

Tuesday, March 21st, 5:30-8:30pm

@ Fourth United Presbyterian Church (1323 N Broadway)

Learn how to make giant puppets out of lightweight cushion foam!

Learn how to mount giant foam puppets on a BIKE that you can ride around during the Appalachian Puppet Pageant, Knoxville’s first giant puppet parade, at the next Open Streets on Sunday May 21st!

This free workshop is hosted by the Cattywampus Puppet Council and designed for teachers, community leaders or any other individuals to come learn how to design and create lightweight giant puppets for this spring’s giant puppet parade. This will be a hands on workshop focusing on foam sculpting and rigging for both walking and bike mounted giant puppets. Kickstand Bike Collective will also be at this event with bikes to help you plan out your bike puppet creations. They will have bikes for sale as well.
